about

This album was created in houses with cheap rent and the basement of a Mennonite church in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It was recorded over the course of a year while I was finishing University. It's about growing up and getting your shit together, among other things.

The album is free for you to download. But if you feel you connect with the music or think it has value then pay a standard 10 bucks. Or 5 if you're a student. Or rate it out of 10 and pay that.

I'd be curious to hear what you think.

- Zach

Track Name: Over
I guess you get worn out from it / Elbows on your knees, hands up in your face from it / You're a sinking stone, you're getting older / Flat on your back, looking up, how you know it's over / 'Cause you see only in fairy tales all the time and I'm a swing and a miss again, never mind

So if you tie your hair back I'll lie face down on the sidewalk / Shots and mistakes - now there's not even a spark / You're kind of faded out but it's been a while and it's still the same / Is it one in a million or a million mistakes / And I think back on the time when you had too much, was I out of line? For heaven's sake again someone say anything / 'Cause you see only in fairy tales all the time / And I'm a swing and a miss again, never mind

When you're broke and you've had enough / When you find that you're out of love / Take it right back you were crying on my shoulder / Flat on your back looking up that's how you know it's over
Track Name: Starcrossed
Watching out how light comes in through trees / Broken up, try to make it through tunnels / Let it slide like walking into fog and open up as you look back through windows / Making sounds I don't know if you know / Figure out that our eyes never close / To the sun, everybody knows / In the dark made up of a small part / So maybe now you see with your own eyes again / Figure out, hold it up against your skin

This time last year I was Star-crossed, until when it starts to get enough keep on along / You go on about how you got lost, take unto but now: I've changed a lot! I saved you space!

On Tuesday nights we slide around in parking lots by your parents house, they hear us from the upstairs / all alone, the frost it tags the toes again / faking it, it's all in my mind / In the yard the fire smokes our clothes / It's freezing out, it's too hot inside too cold outside

This time last year I was Star-crossed, until when it starts to get enough keep on along / You go on about how you got lost, take unto but now:

I've changed a lot! I saved you space!
Track Name: Weighted Down
Open above so you soldier on when you're home alone / Take it down a notch fit your head with heavy eyes / And the flashing lights of the ambulance on the bumpy roads / in the hospital with a broken collar bone / Shaking at the braces, just can't seem to take that the love is safe - I'm not surprised / Every time it snows it's like it was never summer, it chills you to the bone / to be out a lot, to be terrified - must happen all the time and I don't know why / Sinking feeling settles in through my skin and bones, holding out is not enough but then who's to know? And if I caught you tearing up don't look at the sun, take it off my shoulders, I hope it's Seratonin

Shaking at the braces, just can't seem to take that the love is safe, put it on the line if it holds the weight, just can't seem to take it somehow/ it's like I'm weighted down / Sinking feeling settles in through my skin and bones, holding out is not enough but then who's to know? And if I caught you tearing up don't look at the sun, take it off my shoulders, I hope it's Seratonin now I feel the cold
Track Name: Arms (feat. Kenzie Jane)
Often times when you're bleary eyed / Tell me if you're so open hearted then still without you get let down a lot / And hopefully if you're out of sight, you're breaking into pieces, figure out what's sacred and if I'm just an afterthought / Two bodies give and take and if you fall I'll fumble / and you put up with so much into what might've taken off I think / holding on is so far and that would've changed everything

I have tired eyes but in the morning I will rise bright eyed until I think of you / I cry heavy tears 'cause you are unchanged in the night you're taking off / everybody knows they see right through you / and you put up with so much into what might've taken off I think / holding on is so far and that would've changed everything

If I tried - well what good would a call do?
To have a hand to hold, and a body at my side

And afterwards, when we met outside the parking lot
You told me everything! - how was I to know?
Track Name: Bleachers
Was it all a dream on set when you walked in / I was drinking, I was talking, you were laughing I was softened / Drunk on Rue St Jean Baptiste counting all your losses

Girls are sitting on the Bleachers

Are your nights cold? You touch everybody's arms and mine - and the fall in your eyes / Missing sparks with hands not intertwined

Drawing up a plan, choosing from my options / I can't focus in my classes! Can I turn this around? / Reading in too deep, I take care of my texts. Girls are sitting on the Bleachers!

Are your nights cold? You touch everybody's arms and mine - and the fall in your eyes / Missing sparks with hands not intertwined
Track Name: Swallowed Up
You were floating with your wet socks on the cold pavement / in the basement of your house I noticed your head almost touched the lights / and it goes to show when you're backed up and stacked on it / Just sitting in your class you're alright / So you climb inside your globe and run around in it like a hamster ball / you get in undone / now you're walking lots with soft shoes and the city lights on / and calling's not a good thing all the time but you might, yeah you might / you stayed all night, you should not have come / neon lights, looking to get older / You get Swallowed Up in it, you get Swallowed up / I can tell by the likes of you, you are on your own, when you see what's ahead of you give me sympathy, you get Swallowed Up / Now you're working up the ladder at the grocery store, and Sarah might quit soon and you'll get paid more / You're snowflake melted now you're numb and terrified / you get overwhelmed by hair cuts and eyes, and eyes! / You stayed all night, you should not have come / neon lights, looking to get older, and you get Swallowed Up / I said a year ago, I called it / and what a sight to see you broken / 'cause on the turn around you folded / I can tell by the likes of you you are on your own, when you see what's ahead of you give me sympathy, you get Swallowed Up in it
Track Name: 9 to 5
Waking up to find it's noon, you're stuck inside your suburb with a TV on your face, go to school and cover bases, fitting eyes into their sockets / You had plans but they fell through, surprise surprise, you found something else to do like staying awake at night / most light is man-made anyway / So you try to reconnect with
Jesus:
he's lifting up your hands while your car is being stolen, you feel uneasy about it, now you're standing there with cell phones

Out on the waves but safe at home / tired all the time, it fades away, have you lost your mind? / the young man's blues and the 9 to 5 / tuck in your shirt and roll your eyes

Holding on to youth time and winter, it's not for everyone, the early evening dawns, but through our family ties and concert halls there's snowflakes on our noses
Track Name: Autumn
Finally looking up, your hands are by your side in the Autumn glow / Suddenly you find you're not holding anymore / try to shake it off, try to fight it in your scores, vodka from your parents house empties out a little more / and has it begun, being totally honest, you're not the sun, in the autumn glow
Track Name: Streetlights [explicit]
Cooling down after bugging out, walking out and wandering / Spinning out your tires, you run out, like smothering a fire or letting go at airports / I don't sleep a lot now, just staring into space and dreaming up a lot, your far from it all, with the Streetlights all on extra bright

And as you bathe in the halogen, you're sold, you're silent, shadows hide and light moves past, and I shouldn't have said anything / so if most of my friends got the fuck out in some sort of exodus that no one told me about / I don't sleep a lot now, just staring into space and dreaming up a lot, your far from it all, was it maybe just too much at once, just sitting in your car after a long shift

Remember when you chickened out and went back to your room? I try not to think about it

Are the Streetlights all on extra bright, days interrupt my sleep at nights
